How To Identify Barnett Crossbow Scopes

Barnett crossbow scopes are a popular choice for hunters, but they're not the only option. There are many different types of scope, and it can be difficult to pick out the correct one without the help of an experienced eye. While this guide won't give you all of the answers, it will provide you with a few techniques that you can use to narrow down your search, and give you an idea about what to look for in a Barnett crossbow scope.

Identifying Barnett crossbow scopes

Barnett crossbow scopes are designed to be used for crossbows. When choosing a scope for a crossbow, you need to get one that is built for the way the crossbow is designed. Barnett crossbow scopes are built to be used with a crossbow, so you won’t need to worry about them not working well for your crossbow. This is important, as you want to make sure you aren’t wasting money on a scope that is uncomfortable for you to use.

You should also look for a scope that has cable release mechanisms. Most care must be taken when tightening the scope to ensure that it doesn’t try to move. This is not to say that using drag or mechanical levers with a scoped bow isn’t dangerous, but when using a drag or lever, you are more likely to hit your target instead of miss. Cable release mechanisms make it easier to increase tension on the scope without moving it, which should be beneficial for you.

9 Different Types of Scope

An arborist, a contractor, a hunter, a motorist, a plumber — different professions can require use of different types of scopes as they vary in how smoothly they cycle through 360 degrees of checkout, fitting into the crossbow.

While the image below shows 1.5x, 1x, and 2x scopes, there are really many different options for different professions thanks to the fact that there are many different style scopes that can be purchased. If you’re concerned about visualizing where the scope is going to fit into a bow, a 1x and 2x scope is probably the way to go. If you’re a plumber, then a 1x and 2x might be just the thing that can get the job done.

In this quick dip into the world of crossbow and bow hunting scopes, you’ll find 9 different types of scopes. Those numbers come from the manufacturer’s specs, meaning they are identifying the very few different options that will exist to you, the buyer.

Different types of Barnett crossbow scopes

There are different types of Barnett crossbow scopes available in the market. Barnett offers two different types of scopes. The first one is the multi-range scope. This scope has a focus adjustment ring. The second one is the multi-range scope with the lighted reticle. This scope has a lighted reticle.

While the range is adjustable, you will want to utilize the multi-range scope if you plan to hunt at extreme ranges. Most major ammunition companies, as well as outfits such as Schick and Thompson, include ranges in their pricing. For hunting beyond 25 yards, you will want a more accurate scope.

The first thing you want to look at is the overall quality and features of the scope. Is it NIB or polished stainless steel? Does it seem to be well-built? Is there anything broken or cheap about it? It’s easy for a cheap scope to get a lot of wear and tear on it from hunting. The same is true of a polished stainless steel scope.

Other things to look at are the adjustments. Depending on how you plan on using this scope, it’s good to know what the various adjustments are. While we are picturing a light bar on top of the scope, it doesn’t actually have to be a light bar if it’s just you Fuze and a scope ring. Really what you are picturing is a sideways hold on the thumb cage on the grip to adjust for windage. More on this below.

Depending on the scope you are purchasing, you may have to obtain the scope from a national retailer or have it shipped to you. I purchased my scope from Half Price Books here in Kansas City, MO. Because I am from Missouri and they are located on the East coast, they were able to ship to me directly from the manufacturer in Olean, NY without a salesperson. This made purchasing my scope as easy as possible.

Another attribute you want to look at or decide is the scope’s warranty. Glanz Sports first has an awesome warranty.

Things to look for in a Barnett crossbow scope

Barnett crossbow scopes are very popular among Barnett crossbow owners. They have many features which benefit a crossbow shooter. Here are the things to look for in a Barnett crossbow scope: 1) It should be able to withstand the recoil of a Barnett crossbow. Barnett crossbows are powerful, and the scope should be able to handle the recoil.2) The scope should be adjustable. Most scopes are designed for use on fixed stocks only. An adjustable scope will allow you to properly zero the scope for accuracy while on the range. You will need additional counterweight seperate that should be secured to the scope. 3) There should be a solid, metal bushing in the locking mechanism. There should be no slack or wobble in the core of the scope. 4) Both poles of the scope should lock into place tight. 5) Scope should have one or more rings that you can adjust for windage. It is preferred to shoot with only one or a few extra rings, as it allows for more natural breathing. If using two or more rings, the variation from color to color is very nice. It really doesn’t matter what goes on the rings, they just vary in brightness and intensity.6) Scope should have a large eye box, and should be eye level on the target. It is preferred if the scope is a 50 yard range or higher. 7) Scope should have a large scope base. It is preferred to shoot with a 24 inch scope base for increased accuracy, stability, and compactness. 8) Scope should have at least 3 rings, at worst you should have 2-5 extra. Designs with more rings offer more versatility of adjustments and scope cycling.

APS (Adjustable Pre-loaded) Scope

APS (Adjustable Pre-loaded) scopes are lightweight, allow for rapid cycling, and have adjustable rings which allow you to fine tune the look and feel of the custom build to your liking. The best thing about these scopes is you can adjust the scope based on how the target is moving, or or you can adjust the scope to your preference.

This allows you to fine tune the hold of your shots and see just how far your shot is going to go. Otherwise, many of us would have a much harder time using a high caliber crossbow. Understanding how the scope works can help when you are looking to purchase a scope. The good news is that you can usually find an inexpensive scope online.

How to Pick a Good Crossbow Scope

It is possible to pick up pretty much any scope online, but it is going to be very hard to find one that can help you at a budget price point. Try and find one that is small and easy to carry, and has the capability to get you an adjustable hold on the shots. When designing your scope, make sure the addition of a reticle will allow for your shots to go far enough to get exactly where you want them to go. This will make crossbow hunting easier, and can improve you accuracy.

Accuracy

When you start with the idea of accuracy, it is really rather easy to get tripped up. Take a minute to think about how strong you are using your shot. Your strength in general can only increase, so if your aim is off, it is very hard to correct. Make sure that when the scope is on your crossbow, you are in perfectly accurate position to take that perfect shot. That is really what this guide is all about.

Power

Although power is probably one of the most important factors when complimenting your accuracy, it is important to keep in mind power does not inhibit accuracy. Having more power means you can hit farther, so it is important to aim with power in mind.
